Business Continuity Plan

Dahlman Rose & Company, LLC, has developed this Business Continuity Plan as a general guideline for how our firm intends to respond to events that may significantly disrupt our business.  Since the timing and severity of such disruptions are unpredictable, aspects of this document may change depending on the particular characteristics of the situation.  In the event of a disaster, please, if possible, see our company website for the most up-to-date information.

Emergency Contact

If you are unable to contact us at our usual telephone number — (212) 920-2940 — you may call our designated alternative number: (212) 541-4805.  If you are still unable to reach us, and are also unable to access our website, you may contact our clearing firm, Pershing LLC, to process limited trade-related transactions, cash disbursements, and security transfers:

Instructions to Pershing must be in writing and transmitted via fax to (201) 413-5368 or by postal service to the following address:

Pershing LLC
P.O. Box 2065
Jersey City, NJ 07303-2065

For additional information about how to request funds and securities in the event of a significant business disruption, please call (201) 413-3635 for recorded instructions.  If you cannot access the instructions from this number, Pershing LLC may be contacted at (213) 624-6100, extension 500, as an alternate telephone number for recorded instructions.

General Information

In the event of a significant business disruption, our aim is to quickly resume business operations after (a) safeguarding our employees and property, (b) making a financial and operational assessment of the situation, and (c) protecting the firm's books and records.  Specifically, our BCP addresses:

  • Data backup and recovery of all mission-critical systems
  • Financial and operational assessments
  • Alternate avenues of communication with our customers, employees, and regulators
  • Alternate physical locations in which to conduct business
  • Critical supplier, contract, bank, and counter-party impacts
  • Regulatory reporting

For a severe disruption of business localized to the offices or building of the firm, the firm will transfer operations to a predetermined site located in downtown Manhattan with a target recovery time of no greater than four hours.  For a severe disruption affecting both our main office and our primary disaster recovery site, the firm will transfer operations to a site outside the affected area with a target recovery time of no greater than twelve hours.  In either situation, the firm plans to continue business, transfer operations to its clearing firms if necessary, and notify our clients directly or via our website.

While every emergency situation poses unique problems, we have been advised by our clearing firm, Pershing LLC, that its objective is to restore operations, complete existing transactions, and accept new transactions and payments within 4 hours. Your orders and requests for funds and securities could be delayed during this period. In addition, our clearing firm backs up our important records in a geographically separate area, minimizing potential data loss.

In the unfortunate event that the business disruption is so severe that it prevents us from remaining in business, we will assure our clients' prompt access to their funds and securities.
